Chair
Prof. Stefano Zambon (BSc, University of Venice; MSc & PhD, LSE) is the Chair of Accounting and Business Economics at the University of Ferrara, Italy. He has visiting appointments at universities in four continents, including Waseda Tokyo, Stern Business School at New York, Christchurch (New Zealand), London Business School, HEC and ESCP Paris, Melbourne, and Passau (Germany). He has more than 100 publications in books and international journals in the areas of management and reporting of intangibles, the representation of intellectual and knowledge capital, international financial reporting, and accounting theory and history. Zambon was a member of the Board of the European Accounting Association from 1997 to 2003. He is Associate Editor of the academic journal Financial Reporting and in such a capacity he is collaborating with the IASB Research Center on an initiative to connect more closely accounting research, practice and standard setting. Since 2005 he is the Coordinator of the series of the European scientific Workshops on Intangibles and Intellectual Capital. He was coordinator of the 2003 Study for the European Commission on the measurement and reporting of intangible assets, and a member of the expert group that in 2006 prepared the EC Study “RICARDIS” on Intangibles in research-based SMEs. In 2013 he was a member of the European Commission’s Expert Group on “IP Valuation”. Since April 2014 he is President of the official Expert Group on Intangibles set up by the French Government (Ministry of Economy). A founding member of the Global Network “World Intellectual Capital Initiative” – WICI, of which he has been Deputy Chairman since July 2013 and Chairman of WICI Europe from 2009 to 2015. From July 2015 he has been appointed Chairman of the WICI Global Network, where he represents the European Financial Analysts (EFFAS). He is also Secretary General of WICI Italy. |
Judge Professor Chairman Mervyn King is a Senior Counsel and former Judge of the Supreme Court of South Africa. He is Professor Extraordinaire at the University of South Africa on Corporate Citizenship, Honorary Professor at the University of Pretoria and Visiting Professor at Rhodes University. He has an honorary Doctor of Laws from the University of the Witwatersrand, is Chairman of the King Committee on Corporate Governance in South Africa, which produced King I, II and III, and is First Vice President of the Institute of Directors Southern Africa. He is Chairman of the International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC), Chairman Emeritus of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and a member of the Private Sector Advisory Group to the World Bank on Corporate Governance. He chaired the United Nations Committee on Governance and Oversight and was President of the Advertising Standards Authority for 15 years. He has been a chairman, director and chief executive of several companies listed on the London, Luxembourg and Johannesburg Stock Exchanges. He has consulted, advised and spoken on legal, business, advertising, sustainability and corporate governance issues in 53 countries and has received many awards. He is the author of two books on governance and sustainability and sits as an arbitrator and mediator internationally. |

Susanne leads Novo Nordisk’s efforts to be a sustainable business and is charged with oversight of corporate sustainability-driven programmes, the integrated Annual Report, stakeholder engagements and communication on the value of the company’s Triple Bottom Line (TBL) business principle. In this capacity she sets the strategic direction for the company’s positioning as a sustainability leader and a pioneer in demonstrating the long-term business value of incorporating economic, social and environmental perspectives into its market proposition. Susanne joined the Novo Group in 2000 to ingrain the TBL principle in the business as the lens for decision-making and a strong component of the corporate culture. Among her achievements are the successful integration of the company’s financial and sustainability reporting. Before that, she worked as a strategy and communications consultant in the field of environmental and sustainability issues management for more than a decade. She is also adjunct professor of Corporate Sustainability at the Copenhagen Business School. |

Pawlicki is Director – Business Reporting, Assurance & Advisory Services and XBRL for the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). Ms. Pawlicki staffs the AICPA Assurance Services Executive Committee, which is focused on developing guidance for assurance and related services to improve the quality, relevance and usefulness of information, and on providing thought leadership and recommendations which identify and prioritize emerging trends and market needs for assurance and related services. Ms. Pawlicki is responsible for building awareness and understanding among the AICPA membership of the eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL), a language for the electronic communication of business and financial information. Ms. Pawlicki also coordinates AICPA activities related to Integrated Reporting and Sustainability, including collaboration with other organizations around the world that are dedicated to improving the quality and transparency of business reporting. Before joining the AICPA, Ms. Pawlicki was a Principal of New Business Development with the Timken Company, an international manufacturer of bearings and steel. Her responsibilities included the development and maintenance of a global strategic plan for her business segment, as well as the management of a portfolio of growth projects. She developed financial models and wrote business plans for various projects and affiliations, and acted as project manager for selected ventures. Ms. Pawlicki graduated Magna Cum Laude from Middlebury College in 1996 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Politics & Economics and French. She has since earned a Master of International Management from Thunderbird, The American Graduate School of International Management, and a Master of Business Administration from the Case Western Reserve University Weatherhead School of Management. |

From 1991 to 1995, he joined Tokai Morgan Grenfell International Funds Management Co., Ltd. in London (a joint venture established by “Morgan Grenfell Co., Ltd.” and “The Tokai Bank, Ltd.”) as portfolio manager, and then worked for Tokai Investment Asset Management Company, Ltd., Japan(a subsidiary of “The Tokai Bank, Ltd.”) as a senior Japanese equity fund manager. In 2001 he left The Tokai Bank, Ltd. to join Prudential Investment Management Japan, Inc. as senior fund manager and the head of research, and then worked for Invesco Asset Management Japan, Inc. as senior fund manager and the head of large cap Japanese equity group. Since 2011, he has worked for The Tokai Tokyo Research Center Co., Ltd. as general manager and senior global strategist. |

Jonathan Labrey leads the IIRC’s global policy work, which aims to create the conditions for Integrated Reporting to flourish. Since joining the IIRC in March 2012, Jonathan has travelled widely and has developed a deep insight into the major trends and policy developments in corporate reporting across the world. In June 2014 he relocated to Singapore, where he is spending six months developing the IIRC’s understanding of Asian markets, building the knowledge and networks that will help to create and spread global best practice in corporate reporting. Jonathan has a background in government relations, policy and regulation, having headed up the public affairs and policy team at the ICAEW from 2004-10 and at the RIBA from 2000-2004. From 2010-2012 Jonathan was head of communications at the UK’s Financial Reporting Council, the accounting, audit and corporate governance regulator. He started his career as a political advisor in the UK Parliament, having read Law at King’s College, University of London. |

Takayuki SUMITA has served as Director-General for Commerce, Distribution and Industrial Safety Policy in the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) since July 2015. He was born in 1962, graduated from Tokyo University and joined MITI (Ministry of International Trade and Industry) in 1985. After working for several years, METI sent him to the U.S. to study in Graduate School for Foreign Service, Georgetown University between 1991-1993. After coming back to Japan, he engaged in various tasks including policy planning and trade negotiation, especially on innovation, IPR, IT, environment and FTA. As the director for IT industry, he introduced the ‘eco-point’ system with triple benefit of revitalizing economy, greening the electric appliances and making smooth the transition to digital broadcasting. He was sent to Brussels between 2009 and 2013 as a liaison officer of METI, working as the Executive Director, Japan Machinery Center Brussels Office, with the tangible result of agreement on kicking off the negotiation on FTA between the EU and Japan. As the DG for Oil, Gas and Mineral Resources between 2013 and 2015, he reinforced Japanese energy security policy, including the creation of energy security index and huge efforts to diversify supply sources. He had also worked as the chairman of World Intellectual Capital/Assets Initiative (WICI) since September 2009 until June 2013, focusing on the new mechanism of corporate reporting ranging from financial to non-financial matters. As the Chair of WICI, he served as a member of its WG in IIRC to establish the framework of <IR>. Moreover, he has been a board member of the New Club of Paris since 2005, as one of the world leaders in the area of intellectual capital/ assets and innovation. |

Neil Stevenson has nearly 20 years of experience in the accounting and finance sectors. At the IIRC, he leads on developing a strong global brand for Integrated Reporting and key institutional relationships. Neil was involved in the communications group that established the <IR> brand in 2010 and subsequently served on the IIRC Working Group which provided guidance on the development of the IIRC as a global organization and the International <IR> Framework. He therefore has long-standing insight into the work of IIRC and how its brand can be developed to support adoption of <IR> worldwide. Through his working experience and his work with the IIRC, Neil has extensive links to organizations who are well placed to influence the market at all levels and across stakeholder groups. Neil has previously worked in senior marketing and brand roles at ACCA and PwC, with responsibilities including oversight of policy and thought leadership. He was educated at the Universities of Cambridge and Leeds and is a member of CIM. |
